Matahari sudah hilang di ujung langit bagian barat sana. Malam mulai berganti dan kami masih terus berjalan.
"Pak, masih belum sampai juga?" tanyaku padanya yang terus menuntun sepeda tua peninggalan kakek. Di bagian belakang duduk manis adikku, menatapku, kemudian menatap bapak.
"Sabar ya, Le, masih agak lama." jawabnya dengan logat jawa kental menenangkan.
Aku terus mengiringi langkah bapak berjalan di jalanan gelap ini. Hanya lampu-lampu motor dan mobil yang menbuat jalanan ini terlihat jelas. Ramai jam segini, tapi tak tau kalo malam sudah makin larut.
"Pak, kenapa bapak tidak beli motor saja?" tanyaku lagi membuka pembicaraan lagi.
"Haha, kamu ini ada-ada aja. Uang dari mana to, Le."
"Sekarang kan bisa kredit, Pak. Kayak Pak Sobirin itu kemarin kan dia juga kredit," ucapku sambil menatap lalu lalang kendaraan bermotor. "Ah, pasti enak, Pak. Ndak perlu jalan kayak gini, bisa cepet sampe juga."
Bapak tersenyum.
"Kita punya sepeda begini juga udah lebih cepet dari orang jalan, Le. Orang bisa jalan juga udah lebih cepet dari orang yang cacat, duduk di kursi roda. Cuma gimana cara kamu merhatiin dan paham sama apa yang terjadi aja, Le."
Aku diam, mencerna apa yang dikatakan Bapak. Ya, memang seperti Bapak, tak pernah mengeluh..
Dan aku malu...
"Maaf ya, Pak. Alit lupa cara bersyukur..."
"haha, masa lupa? Coba, cara bersyukur gimana, Nduk?"
"Alhamdulillaaaaah...." kata adikku sambil tersenyum.

Aku bukan siapa-siapa jika harus melewati lorong sepi ini. Mungkin memang disana aku tampak seperti laki-laki yang bisa hidup tanpa orang lain. Tapi dalam kesunyian ini tak pernah ada yang tahu siapa aku sebenarnya. Nyaliku menciut seolah-olah di depan sana ada kehidupan lain yang aku sendiri tak bisa membayangkan. Di ujung lorong ini pasti ada sesuatu, sesuatu yang sangat membuatku takut.
Berada di kehidupan sebelumnya memang pilihan hidupku. Di sana aku tidak sama, aku bisa menyuruh semua orang untuk mengikuti apa mauku tanpa terkecuali. Tapi disini berbeda, di ujung sana pasti juga berbeda. Bulu kudukku yang berdiri tak mampu aku kuasai agar diam saja di tempat seperti tak pernah ada yang terjadi. Aku terus berjalan dan kemudian mematung...
Apa bisa aku beranjak kesana sementara bayang bayang ketakutanku menggelayutiku dan menenggelamkanku semakin dalam tanpa rasa kasihan.
Aku sendirian...
